Growing Together – Day 14: Patience
READ: Matthew 5:43-45a
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.
READ: 1 Peter 3:9
Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.
Christian George, who wrote Godology: because knowing God changes everything, wrote this about God’s patience:
“The wick of God’s temper is skyscraper tall.”
I love that phrase.
Imagine how long that is for a moment.
ASSESS: How tall is the wick of your temper with the people in your life?
With your family?
With your co-workers?
With those who would intentionally do you harm (an enemy)?
PRAY: Ask God for help.
