Well it’s been awhile–sorry to all of you you have faithfully checked and found nothing new! The good news is that Brayden has been doing so well that we’ve been able to be out and about, thus neglecting the blog:( And even now, I’m taking a break from a big game of living room baseball to type this. So, it will be the reader’s digest version of the past month or so. We have successfully made it through the first two phases, and on June 5th we started phase 3 (Interim Maintenance). It’s an 8 week phase consisting of chemo every ten days–administered through his port at Choc. The entire doctors visit only takes 45 minutes and that includes parking the car! We’ve had no side effects thus far and Brayden is doing great! To begin this phase we had to meet a certain number in his blood work (75 platelet count and 750 ANC); I’m pleased to say that we made those counts a week in advance! So, we had a whole week prior to starting this third phase of fun adventures to the park, grocery stores, and dinner parties! These next two months should be more of the same–assuming his counts remain strong! And then we’ll go into the last hard phase before our 3 year maintenance period. The “hard” phase is called Delayed Intensification and lasts two months. But the good news, it that the new baby will arrive one month before the hard phase begins. So, we’ll have some good time as a new family of four! Brayden is so excited about the new baby! Actually, a few days ago I explained to him that the baby would be living with us and he just about came out of his skin with excitement! He ran over to me, hugged me, squealed like little girl, and said “Thank you mama!” What a sweet boy God gave us
So, anyway, here we are…two months down, four more to go, then a few years of maintenance! God has blessed us with nothing but good news and tons of lessons about faith and His character. We are still praying for complete cure, but in the meantime we are enjoy each and every day, not trying to rush through these next few years, and striving to bring Him Glory in all things–a true purpose of life. We still haven’t seen any major side effects to the chemo…another huge praise and prayer! We can’t thank you enough for the love, support, and prayers! Let this be used by God! Love to all, Jen
